Do Alpha have age requirements to rent a vehicle?
Yes, there are age requirements:
- We do not rent to drivers under 21.
- Drivers aged 21-24 can rent select vehicles (e.g., Economy, Compact, SUV, Ute) but will incur an age surcharge.
- No upper age limit applies, as long as the driver holds a valid licence.
- You must hold a full and valid driving licence. Learner and provisional licences are not accepted
Can I use a digital driver's licences/credit card?
Digital driving licences from QLD, NSW, and SA are accepted, provided we can verify their validity. If verification fails, a physical licence will be required.
All payments must be made with a physical credit card. We do not accept digital cards, Apple Pay, or similar payment systems.
Can I use an international driver's licence?
Any licence provided must be in English and include a photo. If your driving licence is in a language other than English, it must be accompanied by an approved translation, such as an International Driving Permit. An International Driving Permit is not a stand-alone document and must be carried alongside your valid domestic driving licence.
Why do I need to provide my passport if I hold an overseas driver's licence?
When renting a vehicle with an overseas driver’s licence, Australian road authorities require us to securely collect your passport details to ensure full compliance with local regulations. Having this information on file allows Alpha Car Hire to smoothly process any driver nominations for traffic fines, tolls or infringements that might be issued to international visitors during their journey. Taking care of these details right at the counter guarantees a hassle-free rental experience so you can confidently hit the road and enjoy your trip with total peace of mind.
Who can drive the rental vehicle?
All people wishing to drive the vehicle must be listed on the rental agreement. If you wish to add a driver after collecting the vehicle please contact us on 1300 227 473.
